Plagiarism Policy

Indonesian Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Multimodal Systems (IJAIMS) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism and academic misconduct. The journal is committed to upholding integrity, originality, and transparency in scholarly publishing.

All manuscripts submitted to IJAIMS are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening prior to peer review and before final acceptance.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, figures, or data without proper citation
  • Self-plagiarism or redundant publication
  • Submitting substantially similar work to multiple journals
  • Improper paraphrasing without acknowledgment
  • Unattributed use of unpublished materials

2. Similarity Screening

The journal may use similarity detection software to evaluate submitted manuscripts. While no fixed similarity percentage automatically determines rejection, manuscripts with excessive overlap or improper citation may be returned to authors for clarification, revision, or rejection.

3. Editorial Actions

If plagiarism is identified at any stage of the editorial process, the journal may take the following actions:

  • Request clarification or revision from the author
  • Reject the manuscript
  • Notify the author’s institution (in severe cases)
  • Retract the article if plagiarism is discovered after publication

4. Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication

Authors must ensure that their submissions represent original work and are not substantially similar to previously published research. Proper citation of prior work, including the author’s own publications, is required.

5. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and for properly citing all referenced sources. Submission of a manuscript to IJAIMS implies agreement with this plagiarism policy.

6. Appeals

Authors who disagree with a plagiarism determination may submit a formal explanation to the editorial office. The editorial team will review the case objectively before issuing a final decision.
